Message from the Principal

It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you the Thika Technical Training Institute, the premier technical training institution of technology and innovation in this region. Since its establishment, the institute has consistently provided top quality technical, vocational, educational and training to students from Kenya and the entire East African region.

Thika Technical Training Institute is located in the heart of Thika Town, one of the most industrious towns in Kenya. This unique location gives students and other stake-holders easy access to the institution. Moreover, by its location, the students of the Institute have direct access to the widest industrial activities and companies in this region during their training.

The strength of our graduates lies in their ability to practically apply the technical skills acquired through the training to address the challenges of development of their respective counties by providing solutions through innovation.Our institute uses the Industry learning approach in its courses. This has enabled the institution to create an environment that produces well rounded students capable to adapt to the industry needs, society expectations and with well-developed intellectual skills in their field of specialization to be innovators of solutions though technology. As a result, Thika Technical Training Institute produces graduates not only equipped for the industry but also well armed to cope with life itself.

The registrar’s office deals with enrollment and the general academic affairs of the students. It is a core office in the institute. Some of the responsibilities that the department undertakes includes accepting enrolment of students meeting minimum entry requirements.

The office also endeavors to ensure admission requirements of the institution are adhered to, hence ensuring the requirements are valid in every enrollment. The office also ensures the institute’s examination standards and requirements for the particular course are adhered to.

It is also the responsibility of the registrar’s office to ensure that there are clear guidelines for the submission of examination reports and the examining thereof. It is in this line that the office ensure that the institution's administrative procedures assist students to complete their courses as expeditiously as possible.

The office also ensures that one Department has principal responsibility for supervision when candidates have a Supervisor in different departments or are involved on cross-disciplinary study. The College currently comprises nine departments which are serviced by a well equipped and modern Library. The departments are well staffed and boast cutting edge laboratory equipment to offer top quality training and research in all areas of development ranging from human resource, business to technology. These are the departments of Health and Applied Sciences, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building and Construction, Human Resource Department, Business Studies, Mechanical Engineering and the Automotive Engineering.
